One product that can control Zoom Player remotely is NetRemote: http://www.promixis.com/products.php?section=netremote.

This uses buttons, icons, fields and panels on the Pocket PC or PC screen to control Zoom Player directory or to display the current state (position counters, OSD messages, current titles/chapters, position sliders etc). It talks directly to ZP via its comms interface - it does not need another program (e.g. Girder) in between.

NetRemote supports a range of plug-ins for different uses. The Zoom plug-in (to which I admit an interest, although I have nothing to do with Promixis) comes as standard out-of-the-box. When NetRemote is configured with the name of the player computer, and "Enable External TCP Control" is ticked in the ZP Interface options (with the default port), NetRemote can immediately control Zoom.

NetRemote currently comes in two versions. 1.1 is the latest release. But 2.0, although technically beta, has been around a few months and is quite stable. Both come with Zoom plug-in as standard.

The image attached gives one of the more boring screens for controlling your ZP. There are plenty of better designed alternatives around.

Give it a try

How do you make Netremote control Zoom Player to navigate the media on the hardrive? All I can do is play a regular DVD in the drive. Can this Zoom Player be controlled to navigate the media files from TCP? I've been using a regular Sony DVD player with Netremote Girder and everything for a while to control my system. Now I need to use Zoom Player because the Sony broke. Zoom Player can be controlled by Netremote but all I can do is play a DVD in the drive.

@gaston6858:

It will work for navigators etc. The demo CCF doesn't have screens for this, but you can easily edit them yourself. When editing a CCF file, you can add as many screens as you like. These contain frames and buttons; and the buttons have actions. The button actions can do lots of things - including sending arbitrary commands to Zoom. And I do mean "arbitrary". Any command which has a COMM interface defined can be invoked from NetRemote. And AFAIK, every feature of Zoom can be controlled through its COMM interface.

If you want help on CCF editing and the like, you may be better off at the Promixis forum.

Hope this helps
