This version of Zoom Player is incompatible with v5.5/6.0 betas that were installed in "Standard" mode (legacy mode installations are unaffected). If you've used a previous installation, it is recommended that you uninstall prior to installing this version.

If you do not wish to uninstall, you'll have to manually erase the following folder (from an admin account):
"%AppData%\Zoom Player"

Download:
v6.00 release candidate 2

Navigation interfaces (if you're not using the default drapes interface, you need to update):
Drapes Widescreen :: Drapes for Tablet devices :: Blue Chill :: Bill Chill for Tablet devices :: Charcoal :: Charcoal Widescreen :: Ivory :: Ivory Widescreen :: Mercury :: Onyx :: LCARS]

Change log from v6.00 RC1:
* You can now specify additional paths for the File Browser (Adv. Options /
Interface / On Screen Display / Fullscreen Navigation).
New paths appear as drives. You can add network shares (for example
"//USER/Video/" and even local paths such as "C:\Media" creating instant
shortcuts to important directories on your system.

  * The Chapter editing interface has been modified with a chapter name history
drop-down list and instead of a dialog opening up when adding a chapter,
now you can just type in the chapter name (or pick from the drop-down
history list) and press enter or click the add chapter button, making it
	easier to add chapters.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Interface) allowing you to lock filter/decoder
configuration (property) pages to the main user interface (otherwise they
	appear as a floating window).

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Interface / On Screen Display /
Fullscreen Navigation / Settings) allowing you to select if Cut,
Copy & Paste operations allow you to overwrite files.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Interface / On Screen Display /
Fullscreen Navigation) allowing you to specify the minimum number of
characters that appear when using Quick Search.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / Video & Subtitles) allowing you to
enable/disable Closed Captions support for media files.

  * New Button (Adv. Options / Playback) allowing you to reset the
Remember Last Position cache (and play history, which are the same thing).

  * New "/SP:[n]" command line parameter allowing you to turn Smart Play ON/OFF.
To turn Smart Play off use "/SP:0" to turn it on use "/SP:1".

  * New "<FileIndex>" skin script dynamic variable that returns the current
	playing index.

  * New "<PlayListCount>" skin script dynamic variable that returns the current
playlist item count without adding the "file(s)" text to the returned value.

  * New DVD profiles for the Convolver filter:
	http://convolver.sourceforge.net/

  * The Main fullscreen navigational interface is now accessible directly through
	the right-click context menu.

  * Support for the ".WAX" ,".WVX", ".WMX" playlist file extensions.

+ Opening "mms://" addresses should now work a little better.

+ When using the File Browsing and Media Library navigation interfaces, the
Copy & Paste functions will now show an OSD message while moving files and
a success/fail OSD message when the file operation completes.

+ When opening the player with secondary windows open (playlist editor,
equalizer, etc...) the keyboard focus did not remain on the main window.

+ Real-Time Frame rate reporting on the information dialog should now work
with Custom Video Renderers as long as they support the IQualProp interface.

+ The "Add Chapter" function's keyboard macro has been changed from "C" to
	Ctrl+Shift+"C".

  - Fixed List Index out of Bounds error when playing archived files.

  - Switching between skin modes in the skin selection dialog would not update
the available skin lists properly between modes.

  - Using the play next file in the same directory should no longer flash
the media background images between files. This fix also makes the
	images load faster.

  - The Screen Orbiting feature did not accept values properly.

  - Setting a Playlist Font/Color override would return to the skin values
	when switching skin modes.

  - Disabling Skinning of the OSD Action pop-up and setting it to transparent
	didn't work properly.

  - The Skip to the next file in the playlist when an unplayable file is
encountered function no longer skips to the next file if the entire
playlist is unplayable. This fix prevents the playlist from looping
	in error messages forever.

  - Improved Network path support for paths starting with "//".

  - Cosmetic glitch fixed in the advanced playlist control (buttons could
	overlap).

  - Cosmetic glitch when drawing translucent scrollbar/path graphics within
the fullscreen navigation interfaces that caused the scrollbar and path
graphics to become less and less transparent over time.

  - More cases of unsupported hardware color control are now detected by the
	color control navigational interface.

  - Disabling the "'Del' key moves media files to the recycle bin (with
confirmation)" setting would erroneously disable the erase function from
working in the media library and file browsing navigation interfaces.

  - Trying to play Audio-CDs through the file browsing navigation interface
	would not play the file.

  - EVR with Smart Play disabled should now work on Windows XP (with .NET v3
	or newer installed).

  - Various "Invalid Floating Pointer operation" EVR errors have been fixed.

  - Opening the skin selection dialog with a navigation interface visible
would not show the correct tint values (it showed the skin's tint
values rather than the navigation tint values).

  - When the player was set to "Stay On Top", some options dialog sub-menus
would appear beneath the options dialog, making them inaccessible.

  - When the player window would lose focus, the control bar
	stopped auto-hiding.

  - The internal image decoder can now load images from network paths.

Hi Blight,

first bug :-)

If installing ZP RC2 silently using the /S switch, ZP will be installed in legacy mode by default although standard mode is supposed to be the default. (was so in earlier versions). Or are there switches telling the installer in what mode to install ZP ?

Also there is now a Premium version ? I gather thats the Pro WMV version with another name ? At least it seems to work with the Pro WMV key although Premium sounds more like HDDVD/BlueRay Support *gg*

Bye,
Alex

PS:

Is ZP supposed to use the All Users Directory now for the application data ? Previously you were using the user directory not the All user directory ?

Bug Report:

When selecting a file in the media library navigator, a bunch of files from the directory you select from are added to the playlist.

Hello.
Great!Very various functions are splendid.

By the way, I have the problem that can be never solved.
Please please advise it.
I cannot display Japanese subtitles when I do the setting that there is to a photograph in Vista.
However, then subtitles can display the same setting in XP.
I want to use "overlay".
In addition, I do not want to use DirectVobSub.
Is there the method that I use "overlay", and subtitles can display?

Hello,
I have a new bug with this new version of Zoom Player...

When I want to open the Media Library Navigator, I got the error message : "Cannot create file "d:\test.bmp". The system cannot find the path specified".
I really don't understand what is this file and why I got this error...
I tried reinstalling Zoom Player, and also the "DefaultSettings.exe", but nothing worked...
I also verified that there is nothing in the media library (no category and no folders)...

What can i do to use back the Media Library ? I really need it...

Thanks...

[EDIT] I tried to download new Navigation Skins and installed them, but when I want to change the Navigator Skin (via the Skin Selector), I have each time the same error message...

Seems to be a bug with the Media Library Navigator. It occurs only if you do not have a D drive.

It appeared when you tried to set a navigation skin because ZP displays the last open navigator during skin selection (so that you can actually see the skin you are choosing).
Open a different navigator prior to selecting the skin and the error should not occur.

As a workaround you can create a network drive as D: (in explorer "tools->map network drive"), for example \\YOUR_PCNAME\c$

I tried what you proposed, but it doesn't solve the problem... I can open the "File Navigator", but then when I try the "Media Library Navigator", the message comes again...

[EDIT] Since it seems to want a "d:" drive, I put an USB key (that took the "d:" letter) and tried again...
This time, it worked ! I then looked into the USB key, and found the "test.bmp". It's a picture of a Media Library skin...
Strange... Then I removed the USB key, and of course, The error message came back...
Really strange error...
If I could find somewhere an option to change the path it want to create this picture (to my hard disk), the error would stop, and I wouldn't have to put my USB key...
Do you know if there is a way to modify this path ? It isn't in the options... Perhaps in the Registry ?

Thanks in advance...

How to add additional paths in the file browser? If I try, I get the message I need to upgrade to premium, MC or max, but they don't exist till now isn't it?

OV2, Thanks for your workaround.
It should work.
But I would really like to keep the "d:" drive letter for my USB key and try to change the path where Zoom Player put the "test.bmp" file...

For the moment, I suppose I will return to RC1...
I hope this bug will be corrected for the next version, or if someone finds a way to correct it, please tell us, I'd like to test RC2 as well...

Thanks !

The filter properties now appear on the beamer again with the new setting, thanks Blight! :kudo:

Some other things I noticed:

the skin download site doesn't open although the installer is set to do so.

If I run Zoomplayer with the /Z:2 parameter it opens on the second monitor in full screen just like /F:2. When I leave the fullscreen mode ZP moves back to monitor 1 :(

I never tried these options so I don't know if this has changed with RC2.

wdekler: When exiting zoom/fs mode ZP moves to the position where it last was in window mode. So if you exit it from window mode on monitor 2, then it will restore that position when you exit FS mode.

Bilar Crais: You can try out my ZP File Associations program - I've updated it to allow custom icons to be specified for each extension (link in my sig).

Hello all :kudo:

I searched the forum but couldn't any info on the following problem. I have installed Zoomplayer v6.00rc2 and when I activate the control bar in window mode, it disappears when I check the option to move the it to the top of the screen:

http://img297.images...12994281pb5.png
http://img297.images...26704008uz0.png
http://img297.images...40335259qm3.png

The third image shows that the control bar only disappears when it is not on the video area (checking "wihtin video area" is a workaround).

Regards

Blight,
I'm back with my "Guard Dog" issue:
in RC2 when I try to enable the "Guard dog" I get the following message:
Zoom Player is a Powerful Media Player and front edn. Not all features are available in the version you are currently using. The feature you just tried using is available in the following versions:
Zoom Player DS
Zoom Player MAX
[OK] [Upgrade Now]
That got me interested so I followed the "Upgrade now" button but there were no such version on your site. I guess this is something that's not yet released to the public? Can you elaborate on the future version policy? What will the "Pro" version correspond to?

P.S.
while I was downloading the RC2 I also noticed a version called "Premium". Is this the old "WMV Professional" or there will be something more in it?

P.P.S.
I'd also like to comment on the "temp.bmp" issue. I do have drive "D:\" so it's not a big problem for me now but I think it'll be better to create this temporary file in some temporary directory (%TEMP% for example) or at least in ZP's own folder (depending on the mode (standard vs. legacy))

Hello.

There's a bug regarding the option "Enable external TCP (port)". After activating the option and exit the player, the field is disabled like preventing users from entering a numeric value.
