Okay, the simple version of the story is I've upgraded one of my computers to ZP 5.0 and ran the install center..during the running of the install center I got a "class not registered" error for the file ffdshow.ax ...I chose ignore and went on thinking all is well because I could regsvr and re-install. Nope..now my DirectX Diag is telling me it cannot get any DirectShow information, and RegSvr will not register the file with the same error as the installer.

I've rolled-back, uninstalled, re-installed, cleaned up directories...manually replaced files and re-installed DX...I'm hoping someone has an answer here to keep me from having to do a re-install of XP, which the main user of the computer is hesitant to do.

Try "regsvr32 quartz.dll" to see if that fixes the issue.

If not, try the clean install section of the media setup guide (link below).
