After a year of development and a massive restructuring and simplification, Inmatrix is pleased to announce Zoom Player v5.

Download Zoom Player v5

Additional Fullscreen Navigation Interfaces:
Black 4x3, Black 16x9, White 4x3, White 16x9, LCARS 4x3.

The Main user interface

The Fullscreen Control Bar
The Audio user interface
The Play List
The Equalizer

Changes from RC3:
* New Setting (Advanced Options / Interface / OSD / Fullscreen
Navigation), allowing you show hidden files (default off).

  * New Setting (Advanced Options / Control Bar) allowing the
Control Bar to hide automatically if the mouse cursor is moved
a certain distance away from the control bar (50 pixels).

  * New Mouse Left-Click setting to only move the user interface window
(without the ability to move the video while in fullscreen).

  * New "/MEDIACAT:category name" command line parameter allowing you
to open the media library navigator within the category selection
screen when Zoom Player starts. Using "/MEDIACAT" alone will open
the category list in the previously saved position, while specifying
a category name would highlight a specific category, for example
"/MEDIACAT:Music" would highlight the Music category.

  * New CommAPI message (1950) allowing you to remove items from
	the Playlist.

+ Clicking on the left/right sides of the navigation interfaces is no
longer restricted to 1 pixel, but rather 1 percent of the interface
	width.

  - The "/MEDIANAV:category name" command line parameter was not
	functioning correctly.

  - Under certain conditions the internal image viewer would not position
	the image correctly.

  - Executing external applications on Windows 95/98 could cause a crash.
This also affected the install center.

  - Fixed small glitches with the skin.

  - Made a few text instances clearer.

  - Few more small bug fixes.

All forum data from the past 8 days or so have been lost. Please repost any question/report that hasn't been addressed.

Sorry about this people, but the new version overwhelmed our server, which managed to corrupt the forum database for some reason.

Oh, smells like a database crash :kudo:
EDIT: I was too slow...

Well, I asked how to enable the new default skin.
I upgraded from 5 RC2, and still have the 'old' skin.

Yes, and congrats to the new major release!

Great work blight and the dev team! I love the new version

Blight, how do I go about working out my issue with the control bar you told me to contact you about?

Metshrine:
You'll have to wait till we get back from CES on january 16th. Then just post a message reminding me about the issue and include all the details possible.

Blight,
did you address the Stay on Top issue or you left it for another version?
I'm talking about the one where if Stay on Top is enabled none of the OSD windows or the Control bar are visible in windowed mode.

Here's the collection of heretofore unaddressed concerns I've got. Overall, it's a very nice release, and I'm glad to have it. So here's what I've got:

1. The Composer/Author tag still doesn't show up in .ape files, though it does now in mp3s. Not sure if this is because of Zoom Player or Easy CD-DA Extractor. Jukka hasn't gotten back to me yet.

2. A more comprehensive set of filters & codecs that download by default from the install center. I'd like to download everything and not have to give a second thought as to whether files like FLAC and AAC will work. It also sounds like Flash can only be supported in a piecemeal fashion. Since Adobe's Flash Player is free, I might as well just use that.

3. Complete integration with Windows Vista and Media Center (which, at least for me, responds to my USB TV Tuner when I click the remote for it), including the ability to directly associate with file types, which you told me Vista doesn't let you do.

4. To the extent it's possible, support for Chiptunes, like this Winamp Plugin.

I noticed something like a version numbering issue during install regarding ffdshow:
even though I have the very latest nightly build installed, the install center claimed that there was a newer version, which I can actually hardly believe.

mitko:
Look at what I wrote Metshrine, it's on the same subject.

j.b:
you're welcome, tell your friends ;)

netwolf:
It seems that each person doing a different compile of ffdshow is using a different version numbering scheme. I asked them to try to come up with a single scheme, but it isn't going to happen. So the version you see on the install center is a version I know that works well with most common formats. It will always be older than the nightly build (just don't upgrade). The Install Center is mostly designed for people who don't have a clue what ffdshow is, how to install/configure it, etc... Not for people like you who know what a nightly build is ;)

pezman:
1. I didn't touch anything, so it's EZ-CD Creator... maybe he also missed something for ape, if not, let me know, provide me with a sample file and I'll take a look.
2. Eventually, we're evaluating server loads, as you may have seen, releasing v5 caused the server to tripple in bandwidth, mostly due to the install center. Due to a network configuration glitch at our host (their switch was set to 10mbit instead of 100mbit), our server choked. This has been fixed and we will slowly add more filters. BTW, AAC is supported by ffdshow, not sure if it works on standalone AAC files though.
3. VISTA support is coming in february, VISTA isn't even out yet (officially). I have no idea what your USB TV Tuner does or how it interacts with media center.
4. We don't really write filters in here, you may have better luck asking DCoder, he wrote several old-school music filters.

I've installed ZP and ran into a weird Pop-up OSD bug, or something, it doesn't go away, even after the 3 or so seconds it is set to. In both fullscreen and Windowed, it just stays there saying Play or Stop etc, only when I right click the menu does it go away.

Any ideas? I really like the Pop-up OSD, but right now the only thing I could do is just turn it off fully.

I can confirm this one.

It happens from time to time but I don't know the cause.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who's ran into this problem.

Ok, it seems to have stopped doing it now, On my first install/run of ZP5 it wouldn't go away, I then turned it off, left it like that, closed the player, started it up again today, turned it back on, and now it goes away after 3seconds etc. I really can't make any sence out of it but it seems to be fine now.

It still doesn't support many of the keys on the Microsoft media center remotes, which would be a nice addition for all of us using Zoomplayer on our HTPC's.

The pause button and back button dont work in particular making it pretty unusable with the most popular remote control for pc's :)

There is a way of getting round this using a program called HIP which maps remote keys to keypresses, but it would be nice to have a better solution inside zoomplayer.

New version is awesome by the way, love the Codec Center and the user interface, very slick.
