This is the final release candidate.
Please report any bugs, as the final version is to be released next week and we want it to be perfect.

As you can see from the screenshot below, the new default skin is incorporated into this release. If you see any glitches with the skin or some of the skin's functionality isn't working properly, let us know.

Download Zoom Player v5 Release Candidate 3

Additional Navigation Interfaces:
Black 4x3, Black 16x9, White 4x3, White 16x9, LCARS 4x3.

Here's what changed from RC2:
* The default skin has been replaced with a new cleaner, clearer
	and more versatile skin.

  * The mouse left click (DVD/Media), double click and middle click
can now be assigned custom functions.

  * New Setting (Advanced Options / Interface / OSD / Fullscreen
Navigation), allowing you to enable a Safe Mode where potentially
	unsafe navigation functionality (cut/copy/paste/erase files)
is hidden from the function list.

  * New Setting (Advanced Options / Interface) allowing you to have
Zoom Player switch to fullscreen/zoom modes when starting to
	play new content.

  * New Function (Shift+"J") that reloads the currently playing
	media file.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the main user interface
	window is maximized.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the skin selector
	interface is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the station manager
	interface is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the color control
	navigator is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the equalizer
	interface is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if any navigation
	interface is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the media library
	editor interface is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the chapter
	editor/GoTo interface is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the play list
	editor interface is active.

  * New Skin Script Active tag for determining if the play list
	editor interface is maximized.

  * New Skin Script Commands allowing you to have Transparent
elements within the timeline (both on the control bar and
	on the main user interface).

  * New Skin Script CreateExButton "ActiveHint" value, allowing
you to change the button's hint value depending on the button
	active state.

  * New Skin Script CreateExButton "ActiveHoverX" and "ActiveHoverY"
values, allowing you to set a button image when the button is
both active and the mouse is hovering over it.

+ Entering a negative FunctionParam value on any of the group
skin script functions ensures that the skin's window size
	remains unchanged (use with care).

+ The Play List, Media Library and File Browser navigation interfaces
only check for the existance of an external subtitle file once
(instead of checking each time the interface is opened).

  - Opening the Options dialog on a Monitor/TV with a resolution lower
than 800x600 will show scroll bars allowing the dialog to remain
	accessible.

  - External Control Bar buttons (not part of the control bar button
list) would not show under certain conditions.

  - Having blanking enabled should no longer obscure the navigation
	interfaces.

  - You couldn't disable Smart Play in Zoom Player Standard.

  - Increase/Decrease Play Rate functions would not display the exact
play rate on the pop-up OSD.

  - Audio TAGs (ID3) would not position properly in some cases.

  - Navigation interfaces should no longer show hidden files.

  - Getting media duration would not work under certain conditions.

  - The context navigator colors were not correct if it was the first
	open navigator.

  - Opening directories would not always sort them properly.

  - Opening the media library in a filter mode containing no categories
would cause an error dialog to appear.

  - Setting the mouse left click to move the video area would not work
	in fullscreen mode.

  - Move to Bottom/Top functions on the Play List navigator would not
	always work properly.

  - You could add the "Previous Directory" to the play list in the
File / Media Library navigation interfaces.

I really like the new skin, and the SHIFT+J shortcut really is a welcome addition :) Just wondering though, is it possible to do alpha-blending on the window borders using Zoom Player's current skinning system?

dirhael:
alpha-blending window borders on a window displaying video = blue screen. You'll also notice WMP11 doesn't do it (for the same reason).

Under vista it should be possible, but then again, VISTA isn't even out yet.

Ah, thanks for the answer. Doesn't really matter though, I was mostly just curious on whether or not it could be done :)

Were there any changes made to the WinAPI SendMessage Interface? Because apparently the messages i send have no effect anymore. As far as i could see the class name and the title of the window haven't changed ("TMainForm" and "Zoom Player")...

Love the new skin!

I found a small bug/issue. When watching a ts stream (haali/coreavc), I pressed Shift-J (to test new shortcut). The reload of the video is a little slow, so I opened the main full screen navigator. While the navigator was up the video started playing and overlaped the full screen navigator (you can see the navigator in the top/bottom black bar area). You can use the mouse to control the movie (play/pause) and the arrow keys will still control the navigator in the background. This happened in VMR9 windowed mode, but not in VMR9 windowless mode. In windowless mode, the video loaded and played in the background (behind the full screen navigator).

Hi Blight,

gratulation to the new skin. The best so far ! :)

2 quick things:

1. All the Dialog/Editor Windows etc. should look similar to the new skin (information windows, chapter editor, etc. essentially all the dialog windows). They still have the same old look (Light blue/grey instead of dark blue/orange/grey). DonĀ“t you think those should look similar to the player ?

2. The Playlist window magnetic docking only works on the left/right sides. Can it be made to dock to the bottom of the player too? And the default width should be the same as the default width of the player window IMHO :-)

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Blight.
I like the new skin.
A small issue. I think Esc key should close Options dialog. It works for all the other windows.

Saving media positions and DVD bookmarks do not work with limited user account.
I not sure what do with a playlist button in DVD mode, since a DVD typically has no end. I would like a button, to get int the dvds root menu. The bottom bar takes quite some room on the desktop, but I like the general style.
I had one issue when I pressed the menu up button on my remote while the dvd went from one menu into another. ZP got into some kind of pause mode, stepping one frame each time I pressed a navigation button. But I cannot reproduce it.

I miss the "play all files in this directory entry" in the file navigator.

I still can't get ReClock to work with this release, could I be doing something wrong?

Double click to enter/exit full screen is broken. Double click will go to full screen with the video off center. Trying to double click to leave full screen will try and center the video but it will fail. It will not leave full screen. Alt+enter will enter full screen with the video just fine. alt+enter will recenter the video if it was off center from a double click. Alt+enter will leave full screen like normal if the video is centered correct. Double click will leave full screen if the video is centered from an alt-enter.

[edit]

The show on task bar/system tray options are also broken. If you tell zoom player not to show on the task bar it will hide the task bar button but enter and exit full screen/zoom mode and the task bar button will be returned.

[edit2]

The above mentioned problem with the task bar button setting will cease if the player is closed and then restarted. It s proly not a bug.

[edit3]

More on the full screen issue. I now notice this has to do with setting the left mouse button to move window. It now says "Move Video / Window". You are able to freely move the video window in full screen mode and based on the new name for this option it appears to be intentional. If it is I don't like it. The problem of exiting full screen still stands regardless.

Any idea why Ctrl+C is listed in Playing Information? It doesn't do anything if I try that keyboard shortcut.

ctrl+c is the copy command. It copy's the path/name of the playing file into the clipboard. Not sure why Blight did that.

Hi Blight, in the RC2 topic you advised:
-------------------------------
I had a thought... if you want the next track to reload the current track, then just modify the skin and assign the new "reload" function to that button (or a different button you don't use). That would maintain the functionality level that you specifically require.
-------------------------------

Could you tell me if you implemented that reload function in this RC3?
I tried fnReload in place of fnPrevChapter & fnNextChapter but ZP reports an error when i press those buttons?
See you,

:) I've installed the new version -- but -- the skin didn't change. At first thought the update didn't take, but about-version shows it did. The skin selector doesn't show the new skin either -- what am I missing?

The new skins embedded in the .exe as far as I can tell. Close Zoom Player then go into yer skins folder and move all the skins out to a temporary folder and then restart Zoom Player. It should fall back on the new skin. You can put the skins back in the proper folder after.
