Hi!

I just downloaded a new video from Weezer in .wmv format and when I play it, ZP creates a file called "dxva_sig.txt" which only contains one single letter, in this case a "B".

What's going on? Is it something I've done?

Thanks!

/Matt

It's not ZP that creates it, it's either the display card driver or the wmv decoding components. It's been discussed in the past, do a search.

Thanks for your reply Blight!

I did search the forums but I didn't receive any matches (and it doesn't matter what I search for, still no matches...)

Update: Now I get search results but nothing about dxva_sig.txt I'm afraid.

Please help me with more info Blight, I'm a registered ZP Pro user.

Thanks!

Well as far as I recall, someone tracked it down to one of those components... My guess is that someone forget to disable some debug code which causes this to appear. It isn't coming from ZP.

Are you using an ATI graphics card?

Chris:

No at the moment I'm running a 7800GT card but I purchased it just one week ago. Before that I owned a X800XL card from ATI.

But before I installed my new nvidia card I uninstalled all the ATI drivers and even ran the Driver Cleaner utility available at www.driverheaven.net.

But maybe something's got left behind and is causing this?

Do you have a solution that doesn't involve mixing with WMP files?

I think it's placed there either by ATI video drivers or PowerDVD MPEG2 video decoder. If playing MPEG2 files from a folder in the harddrive, my simple solution to this annoyance is to set any dxva_sig.txt file that I see to have attribute 'hidden'. It will then stay hidden - there is only a max of one of these files per folder.

I got rid of it by disabling WMV acceleration in ATI's drivers.

I just tried enabling it again and did not get the file anymore - it could be the 5.11 drivers that fixed the problem, but since you're running a nvidia card it might be something else that has a problem with WMV acceleration.
