Highlights:
  • New "Favorites" fullscreen navigation interface.
  • New Direct3D 11 hardware accelerated decoding path.
  • Play History enhancements.
  • Optimizations.
  • Bug fixes.

What's new in Zoom Player v14.2:

  * New "Favorites" fullscreen navigation interface.
Any media can be added to the favorites list through the media library or
    file browsing navigational interfaces.

Please note that this change required resetting the "Navigation
interfaces on main navigator" feature to it's default value
(Adv. Options / Interface / Fullscreen Navigation).

  * When using the "Open URL" function, a new "Clear playlist" checkbox is now
available (previously the playlist was always cleared).

  * With LAV Filters v0.71, a D3D11 hardware decoding mode has been added.
You can instruct LAV to use this mode automatically by setting the option
under "Adv. Options / Playback / Video".

+ The "Play History database may be corrupted" message will no longer
appear unless the play history file is actually corrupted.

+ You can now set the "Retain Media Playback History for" value to
99999 days (~2738 years), up from the original 9999 days (~27 years),
just in case one of you finds immortality and wished to use
    Zoom Player forever.

+ The torrents plugin should now shutdown a little faster if Zoom Player
closes while the plugin was fetching an updated file list.

  - Fixed a bug that prevented the previously active audio track from being
restored when re-playing a video with multiple audio tracks.

  - Opening a playlist from navigation interfaces loaded the playlist
but did not automatically start playing it.

  - The fullscreen navigation's text Anti-Aliasing setting was being
    reset after restarting the player.

  - Bug Fixes.

A question about "LAV Filters v0.71, a D3D11 hardware decoding":

Using Windows 7 and setting this option in ZP directly seems to work.

However if I set this option in LAV video filter directly, it still works, but LAV filter says below the greyed out "Hardware Device to use" just "D3D11 requires Windows 8 or newer, and is not supported on this OS".

Does that mean that using Windows 7 and ZP 14.2 there is just no hardware decoding with D3D11 (but only software decoding) or does ZP take some kind of fallback mode to display the video if D3D11 is not supported?

Have you had time to look at that playlist editor color code entries idea.

My other random issue with the control bar not showing occasionally when in full screen and the mouse is moved off the bottom of screen.  When it happens, pressing the space bar will show the control bar and also pause playback.   Not sure how to test if something else is grabbing focus whilst in full screen,  ZP appears to have focus.  It does happen after some time 1hour+ in fullscreen.

Jonny:
I haven't had time to take another look, perhaps soon.

creopard/bkm:
ZP just uses LAV's API to set the mode, but my guess is that LAV itself is falling back to either software or dxva mode on Win 7.

I've got a problem with using the 'T' option to reset the playtime for one or a selection of files (Whole series or just one season of TV shows).

Some files are right at the end of the file and as soon as I double click the file in the playlist editor window it goes to the next track. I don't have time to hit 'T' to reset it back or zero on the time line.   I think this might be a bug, if the file is at the point of changing over to the next track that every time I try and play that file it just shows 100% in the time line and the next rack starts.  I've tried removing the file and saving the playlist (5000 items) and restarting ZP but that don't work either.   I don't want to delete all the history because I am part way thru many dozens of episodes and files etc and want to keep those places.

When ZP skips to the next file at and end of a file, in the play history it modified the history entry for the previously file played to reset it's position to 0.

Furthermore, ZP has a setting that it rolls back the position (by default "4" seconds) when restoring a playback position from history.

So what you're describing is a bit odd... Maybe you disabled the rollback option?

Its checked and has 4 seconds.   These two tv show files ep05 and ep06 are both stuck at 100% and I cannot reset there time to zero.  If I double click ep5 it just jumps to ep6 and if I then hit 'T' it appears to reset but if I then play, it just hits 100% again and goes onto ep07.    I'm not sure how to solve this,  the files appear stuck at 100% somehow.  files are fine I think and have played the same show plenty of times and always was able to reset the time on all of them by using the 'T' key.

This is odd, I've cleared the history from settings, cleared the playlist of 5000 items, restarted.  Renamed the two files, and re-added them to the playlist editor window and they still both remember the play position as 100%.

Any other thoughts on how to reset the files.

Jonny,
This may not be related to play history, this may be related to the files themselves, maybe a codec thing?
Try these particular files, disable play history's resume position setting and see if they still jump to 100%.
If they do, it may be prudent to run the debug version and then post the logs so I can try tracing what's going on.
